Circle to Land Distance during Instrument Approach?
On an instrument approach with a circle to land what distance do you keep from the runway? I have been told a few different thinks:
1. When circling to the other end of the runway keep close enough to the runway so you can keep it in sight, and close enough were you can make a constant decending turn to touchdown.
2. Or, The distance depends on the airspeed just like the time from the Final Approach Fix to the missed approach point.
If there are any pilots reading this, what distance do you use during your circles to land?
M,
A circle to land is really a VFR maneuver after a instrument approach. this is usually for consideration of the winds and there is not a charted instrument
